Construction Claim Chronology Guide
A chronology should help a reviewer follow what happened, when it happened and which record supports each entry without implying more than the evidence proves. This is general workflow guidance, not legal advice; always check the signed contract.
Use dated factual entries
State the event, date, people involved and source reference. Distinguish the event date from the date a party became aware and from the date the record was created.
Link every material entry
Use file references, page numbers, meeting-minute items, email messages, programme activities or diary entries so another person can verify the chronology efficiently.
Keep analysis separate
Do not present disputed causation, entitlement or criticality as a factual chronology entry. Put professional analysis in a separate section and identify the assumptions used.
Turn the guidance into a controlled project record
ContractingClaims keeps sources, events, missing information, drafts and versions together for professional review.
