Construction claims guide

NEC Early Warning and Compensation Event Records

NEC procedure depends on the signed form, option, edition and amendments. Use the executed contract and preserve each communication, decision and programme record in sequence. This is general workflow guidance, not legal advice; always check the signed contract.

Separate early warning and notification records

Record the communication type, date, sender, recipient, event, stated risk, required action and proof of issue. Do not assume one communication satisfies another contractual procedure.

Connect quotations to the programme

Keep instructions, assumptions, forecasts, defined cost support, programme submissions, acceptances, rejections and project manager decisions linked to the same event record.

Track status and next action

Show what has been notified, requested, submitted, assessed, accepted or disputed, together with the responsible person and next date requiring professional confirmation.

Turn the guidance into a controlled project record

ContractingClaims keeps sources, events, missing information, drafts and versions together for professional review.
